Nicole Ferris is the Managing Director of Climpson & Sons, one of the pioneering forces in London’s specialty coffee scene. Originally from New Zealand—where she developed an early appreciation for the community and ritual of café culture—Nicole joined the East London-based roaster in 2011, initially stepping into an admin and logistics role when the business was a tight-knit team of just ten people.
Over the last 15 years, Nicole has grown alongside the company, transitioning through business development before taking the helm as Managing Director. Today, her leadership focuses on the “big picture”—shaping Climpson & Sons’ long-term commercial strategy, fostering a progressive, values-led workplace culture, and driving sustainable industry innovation.
A passionate advocate for ethical business practices, Nicole was the primary driver behind Climpson & Sons achieving its B Corp Certification. Under her guidance, the company has integrated holistic environmental and social metrics into its operations, including an industry-first collaboration to measure carbon emissions in real time across their café, roastery, and headquarters. Nicole remains dedicated to deepening the company’s traceable, long-standing partnerships with global coffee producers while ensuring the business acts as a genuine force for good within the wider coffee community.
