Professor Mark Maslin is a leading climate scientist and Professor of Earth System Science at University College London (UCL). He is also the Lead for Climate, Health and Security at the United Nations University, and serves as the joint Pro-Vice-Provost of the UCL Climate Crisis Grand Challenge.
A central figure in environmental science and science communication, Professor Maslin focuses heavily on the politics, impacts, and solutions surrounding the climate crisis and the Anthropocene. He has published over 220 academic papers in premier journals including Nature, Science, and The Lancet, and has secured over £85 million in research and consultancy funding. To advance industry decarbonisation, he also serves as the founding Director of the UCL Institute for Sustainable Aviation and Aerospace.
As a prominent author and public commentator, he has written 10 books, including How to Save Our Planet: The Facts and Climate Change: A Very Short Introduction. Professor Maslin frequently advises businesses, NGOs, and governments on net-zero strategies. He is a regular contributor to major media outlets such as The Guardian and the BBC, notably working as a science advisor for David Attenborough’s Climate Change: The Facts.
